For the vanilla syrup, slit the vanilla bean and scrape out the pulp. Mix water with sugar and bring to a boil. Add vanilla pulp and pods, cover and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes. Strain through liquid a fine sieve and pour into rinsed, clean bottle. Seal the vanilla syrup and allow to cool.
