A delicious strawberry recipe!
A recipe from Weggis, dated 1865: Weggis is known as a breeding place for delicacy strawberries.
The sour cream is whisked with flour, egg whites and yolks are separated, the yolks are beaten well, added to the dough mixture, the egg whites are beaten to egg whites and this is also added, along with the finely crushed zest of a lemon and sufficient sugar.
All these ingredients are mixed very thoroughly.
Later, brush a high rimmed baking tray with plenty of fresh butter, pour in half of the dough mixture, cover completely with fresh strawberries – wild strawberries taste the most delicious – sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture, carefully pour over it the other half of the dough and let it turn nice and yellow in the oven with the top and bottom heat on.
