In a sufficiently large pot (sausages must be able to float), heat lukewarm water on the stove top.
Put the sausages in and let the water boil briefly. Then immediately turn off the stove top and let the sausages steep for about 10 minutes. Do not cover the pot.
After 5 minutes, turn the sausages over.
Arrange on a plate of potato salad, garnish with chives and serve with mustard and cookies as desired.
