Instructions:

Rinse and peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices with a slicer. Peel onions and garlic clove as well, cut onions into slices, cut garlic diagonally. Rub a shallow gratin dish with the garlic clove, grease the bottom and sides. Layer 1/3 of the peanut and onion slices in the dish, season with salt and season with pepper.

Grate the cheese. Set 1/4 aside. Sprinkle half of the remaining cheese over the potato and onion layer. Repeat the whole process twice. However, do not sprinkle cheese over the top layer. Mix whipped cream with a little sentence, pepper and Worcester sauce and pour over the top. Bake in the oven (electric stove: 175 degrees ,

Gas stove: level 2) for about 45 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for another 15 minutes at 200 degrees (gas oven: level 3) until golden brown. Serve with thinly sliced Katenschinken (ham) or short-fried meat.

As a whole meal, you can offer a slightly more “noble” version of this gratin: Instead of sprinkling cheese over the individual potato layers, simply spread smoked salmon, about 150 to 200 grams cut into strips, in between. The whipped cream is also mixed with an egg and finely chopped dill. Serve this potato-salmon gratin sprinkled with freshly ground pepper and dill and lemon wedges. It goes well with a green leaf salad.
