This chutney is sweet, sour and spicy at the same time. It goes well with most fried or possibly fried snacks.
Break the lump of tamarind into small pieces and make 10 min in the water. Then pour the tamarind as well as the water through a sieve and press as much pulp as possible through the sieve into the water. Repeatedly scrape the bottom of the sieve until all the pulp is pressed through and only the seeds and fibers are left. Pour all the other ingredients into this juice and cook uncovered on a medium flame until most of the liquid has boiled away and the chutney takes on the consistency of jam. This chutney goes well with snacks.
