Try this delicious cake recipe:
Melt the chocolate in a water bath and stir until smooth.
Spread half of the chocolate evenly on half of the wafers and arrange the pitted dates on top. Sprinkle the grated almonds in between and pour the remaining chocolate on top.
Cover with the second half of the wafers, lightly press the cake together and set aside to cool.
Spread a very thick chocolate icing, preferably dark chocolate, evenly on the cake and seal the edge with it in the same way. Decorate with pistachios and candied cherries.
If desired, form a decoration from marzipan paste and place it on the still soft icing.
