For the simple onion roast, first peel the onion and cut into strips. Trim the cutlets and pound them flat. Cut the edges a little. Pull through flour and pat well.

Heat oil in a frying pan and brown the cutlets on both sides. Remove and set aside.

Add butter to the pan to the frying residue, add soup and bring to a boil and simmer gently. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Meanwhile, in another pan, brown the onion.

Return the meat to the sauce. Serve onion roast with sauce and roasted onions.
