Melt butter in a saucepan and pour over semolina.

Mix in curd cheese, egg and salt and let the dumpling mixture sit for a while.

Form dumplings and cook for about 20 minutes in non-boiling water.

Serve the finished dumplings with cranberries or stewed plums.
