Roasted Onion Dumplings on Spicy Lentils

Instructions:

For the dumplings, place the bread cubes in a large mixing bowl.

Chop the onion very finely.

Melt the butter in a pot and sauté the onion pieces in it. Let cool slightly and pour over the bread cubes. Likewise, add the finished fried onions and the herbs with the salt.

Mix the milk and eggs well and pour over the bread cubes. Knead everything into a good mass, incorporating the flour. Salt the mixture well. Now let it stand in a cool place for about 20 minutes.

Form medium-sized dumplings from the finished mass and roll them once again in the flour on the outside.

Then boil in boiling water for about 15 minutes.

For the lentils, open the can and strain the lentils, collecting the water.

Finely chop the onion and finely dice the smoked meat (or bacon).

Fry both well with a little oil and dust with flour. Pour in the lentil water and add bay leaves, marjoram, salt and the soup seasoning. Let everything simmer for about 15 minutes.

Finally, bind with a little flour to make it nice and creamy.
