For the Nusseckerl first prepare the dough. For the dough, mix together the butter, sugar, 2 eggs, vanilla sugar and baking soda. Line a baking tray with baking paper, spread the dough on it and pre-bake at 175 – 180 °C for about 10 minutes.

In the meantime, melt the 200 g butter in a saucepan, add the sugar with the water and bring to the boil once, add the nuts and the flaked almonds and leave to cool slightly.

Remove the pre-baked dough from the oven and spread the apricot jam on it, add the nut mixture on top and bake for another 25 minutes.

After cooling, dip in the melted chocolate coating.
