Gradually cream the butter with the powdered sugar and the egg yolks, add salt, lemon zest or 1 tbsp. rum and the grated almond kernels. Sift the flour with the baking powder and at the same time fold in the firm beaten egg whites of the 4 egg whites.

Fill the dough into a greased and floured cake tin (26 cm ø), spread it smoothly and cover it with the pitted cherries or with apricots or plums. Bake the cake at medium heat for 45 minutes. Instead of almond kernels, you can also add grated hazelnuts to the dough.
