Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Chop chocolate and apricots or cranberries.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with mixer until fluffy. Add eggs and orange zest. Gently fold in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate and dried fruit, if desired. T
Place teaspoon-sized pieces of dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
The inside of the cookies should still be soft. Let cool on a kitchen rack.
