Sofrito sauce comes from Puerto Rico, the island in the Caribbean Sea. The Poertoricans use the sauce for very many dishes. Especially vegetables are cooked in it with pleasure.
Cut bacon, ham and peeled onion into cubes and roast them in a frying pot until the bacon is crispy. Add diced peppers and tomatoes. Season with garlic. Add half a cup of water. Saute at low temperature for 5 min, stirring throughout. Add the threaded olives cut into small pieces, capers, beans, oregano, salt and pepper. Pour a quarter cup of water. Cover and simmer for a good 25 min.
