Pit the cornel cherries and place them in as large a saucepan as possible with the sugar and water.

Bring to a boil, stirring throughout, and make until the mixture is as firm as possible.

Spread the fruit mixture on a baking sheet to harden. Cut into square slices and roll in sugar or melted chocolate, respectively.
