Minced meat balls:

Prepare Brussels sprouts (ready to cook, e.g. peel, remove woody parts and dirt), cut in half, cook uncovered for 10 to 15 min. until just tender, drain.

For the minced meat balls, mix all ingredients well, form nut-sized balls. Heat oil or clarified butter in a frying pan and fry the balls in batches for about 4 to 5 minutes.

Spread Brussels sprouts and minced meat balls evenly in a greased ovenproof dish.

For the glaze, stir all ingredients together and pour over the gratin.

Bake at 220 °C in the middle of the heated oven for about half an hour.

By the way: Did you know that clarified butter is obtained by extracting water, milk protein and lactose from butter?
