1 For the dumplings, boil milk with butter, a pinch of salt, vanilla sugar and grated lemon zest. Stir in semolina and boil down until thick while stirring. Allow mixture to cool briefly. Stir in eggs and toast. 2 For the filling, cut chocolate into eight pieces. Form dough into a roll and divide into 8 portions. Flatten dough pieces, top each with 1 chocolate piece, fold in and shape into smooth dumplings. 3 Boil plenty of salted water, put in dumplings and simmer gently for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, melt butter for the crumbs. Add crumbs, sesame seeds and sugar and toast until golden. Lift out 4 dumplings with a slotted spoon, drain well and roll in the nut crumbs. Arrange the dumplings, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with the vanilla cherries.Preparation of vanilla cherries:Cut open 1 vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the pulp. Mix the starch with 2 tablespoons of the orange juice. Boil wine with remaining orange juice, vanilla pulp and preserving sugar. Add 2 cherries and simmer briefly. Stir in the starch mixture, bring the cherries to the boil again briefly and remove from the heat.
