For the soup, cut the vegetables into strips, stems or cubes. Sauté in warm oil, add soup and onion and let it boil. Add the lentils, simmer the soup with the lid closed for about 35 minutes. Season, add horseradish to taste.
For the meat balls, mix all ingredients well by hand. Fill the mixture into a cooled and rinsed piping bag without a spout. Squeeze out nut-sized pieces, scrape with a kitchen knife directly into a pan into the hot oil and roast for about 5 minutes. Drain on a paper towel. Warm the Kügeli in the soup for about 2 min. before serving.
