For the toffee sauce, in a wide saucepan, melt the butter. Then, when the butter has melted, stir in the sugar, corn syrup, water and the condensed milk and simmer gently over low heat.

Stir occasionally until a thick light brown liquid has formed. Serve the toffee sauce while still warm or process further.
