For the dough, pile the flour, almond kernels and sugar on a board and make a bulge in the middle. Form there the chopped butter, the eggs and a little cinnamon.

Work the ingredients well and knead everything together into a firm dough. Then put the dough to cool for at least 120 minutes.

For the filling, mix the ingredients well and let the filling sit for a few hours. This allows the aroma to develop better.

Roll out the short pastry to a thickness of 3 mm and trim the edges. Divide the dough in half and form one half on a baking tray lightly greased with butter. Spread the orange-almond filling evenly on the bottom of the dough. Cover everything with the second half of the dough and press the edges together a little bit.

Bake the assembled dough in a heated oven at 180 °C for 35 min.

For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with the orange juice. While the dough is still warm, brush it with hot apricot jam. Then apply the glaze. The bites are still sprinkled with finely chopped candied orange peel and cut into 3 cm squares.
