For the apple compote, peel the apples and cut into eighths. Remove the core. Put the apple slices in water with lemon juice. Break the cinnamon stick and add some small pieces to the apples.
Open the cardamom pod, crush or grate the seeds and add to the compote as well. Bring everything to a boil once, storage apples are crumbly and fall apart quickly.
Immediately pour the compote into cold bowls and serve with date syrup.
