For pears, green beans and bacon, put the bacon slices in a large saucepan, pour water, heat with the lid closed. Leave to simmer over a moderate heat.
Meanwhile, wash the runner beans, remove the ends and pull off the strings. Add to the bacon in the saucepan, adding a little more hot water if necessary. Add the savory, season with pepper. Cover and steam for about 15 minutes.
Peel the pears, but do not cut them. Add to the pot with the stalk and stump on top of the green beans, steam everything together for another 10-12 min. The pears should be soft, but not fall apart.
Wash parsley and shake dry, finely chop or weigh. Season with pepper, salt and a pinch of sugar. Serve pears, green beans and bacon sprinkled with parsley.
