Separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites to snow. Beat the yolks, powdered sugar, margarine, vanilla sugar and rum until foamy. Sift flour with baking powder and stir into the yolk mixture with the milk. Finally, fold in the beaten egg white.

Pit the cherries and cut them in half.

Spread the dough on a baking tray lined with baking paper (approx. 37 x 25 cm) and cover with the cherries. Bake the cake at 180 °C until golden brown.
